Subject: Feedback
Dear Linda,
I noted in the August edition of the Fresh Air newsletter that you would like some feedback from your clients so I thought I'd write you a short email regarding my journey with Step Into Life.
While in my younger years I was quite active, however, like many others, with advancing years my physical activity and fitness slowly decreased, and the weight increased. I tried many different ways to get fit and lose the weight. However, boredom exercising in the gym environment and lack of sustained motivation (longer than a month) was always the end result. However, one day a pamphlet arrived in the mail advertising outdoor training and my fitness journey with Jan and the Sans Souci Step Into Life commenced shortly after, around the beginning of September last year.
Needless to say, the intitial couple of months were not easy because I found it difficult to run (slowly) any more than 50 metres without stopping, and every muscle ached. However, the design of the sessions and Jan's fun sense of humour, encouragement and, importantly too, knowledge, always kept me returning for more punishment, sorry I meant training! The sessions are always interesting and varied, and not forgetting the outdoor factor. Along the way I've enjoyed seeing my fitness improving through the regular feedback from Jan, and as well as the fitness assessments. I have since lost approximately 15+kilograms and I am now within my normal weight range. Recently I ran in the Sutherland to Surf and City to Surf fun runs, something I couldn't have envisaged a year ago.
Without Jan and Step Into Life I would no doubt still be on the weight loss/fitness rollercoaster.
Regards
Jann Foster

I started Step into Life for my health, due to hereditary clogged arteries, and the whole making sure at my age I keep my bones fit and healthy, which cross training is good for.
I do enjoy the outside training aspect and that the people you train with are of all different ages. which gives you different levels of competition. In the process I am getting fitter and learning how to breathe so I can now jog further than I used to.
The weekend past I took 1 minute of my 3km time trial which made me quite happy. I do love that I can train at my own speed but also know that Stuart pushes me to step up and push myself harder.

Like starting a new job, it is always a little daunting moving and joining a new club. Will the instructor be nice? Will I fit in with the group? Will they like me? My move from Step into Life Darwin to Step into Life Broadbeach was a breeze. Randall made the transition painless and made me feel welcomed. It was such a relief. I’m enjoying the kickboxing classes the best. I look forward to this every Thursday. I respect his professionalism and enjoy the easy camaraderie he has with all his members. Also the men and ladies, who are the members, are some of the nicest people I’ve met, making training so much more fun

I have a friend who had been a member of Step into Life for about 12-months who had been asking me about joining but I kept putting her off.
In May of 2004 I joined Weight Watchers and started to lose some weight. At the back of my mind I knew I needed to do some exercise as well. So in late June 2004 when I had lost about 5 kgs I went along for a free session.
I enjoyed myself so much that I joined up for two sessions a week on that very night. I can honestly say I haven’t looked back. I love going to the classes as somehow or other each session is different and the encouragement that you get from Eddie and Vicki is wonderful.
I like the fact that the classes are tailored to individual needs, no matter how many participants are taking part. When you need a bit of a push along you get one, but otherwise just loads of encouragement.
I’m now about six months into my membership. I’m proud to say I’ve dropped 25-kgs and there is no looking back for me. I know that Step into Life will always be a part of my exercise routine. Where else can you get out in the fresh air in ”all types of weather”, exercise with like-minded people, have fun, get fit and have expert advice on tap.
The fact that you are monitored and assessed for fitness is also a part of the program, which I enjoy. I have been able to track the improvement in my fitness in a structured way. A major moment occurred for me a month ago when I jogged for the first time in I dread to think how long.
The fact you can also use your membership card to secure discounts at various retail outlets is also a bonus as I found when I bought a ‘proper’ pair of running shoes a couple of months ago.
I wholeheartedly recommend Step into Life to anyone of any age or fitness level, as I believe it’s the best way to get fit and healthy without question.
