Comments about Step into Life®:
We’ve just had our 1st anniversary with SIL and we are feeling quite youthful!! After a year of hard work and fun we are celebrating a new level of fitness, improved muscle tone, less body fat and a new group of friends willing to share a laugh, a wealth of experience and knowledge.
I have always been active and prior to SIL I regularly attended a local gym and walked daily, but I was bored, uninspired and carrying unwanted kilos and with Rick working away his fitness regime was non-existent and was overweight. What attracted us to SIL was we were able to attend together, flexibility to suit work and home commitments, variety of classes and being outdoors.
HIGHLIGHTS OF 2008: Bridges Fun Run in April. Having begun the year as walkers we both completed it non-stop running, a good feeling. Mini Olympics in June-Rick was home to compete and share the victory for Swan View, another good feeling. Bootcamp in December-This was a challenge I initially didn’t take up as I felt it beyond me but with a change of date, encouragement of Andrea, I felt inspired and able! It was hard work but in the best way, fun and on finishing a huge sense of accomplishment. Christmas Picnic-this type of fun family event sets it above other exercise programs.
In Nov/Dec 08 we undertook a Nutritional Program. Rick was told to lose 10 kilos by the doctor and I was still not able to shake my excess weight despite consistent training so we decided to get serious about what we ate. Rick lost 5 kilos in 4 weeks and I lost 6 kilos in 6 weeks. It took commitment and a change in the way we thought about food but the weight loss and increased energy levels made it easy to adopt.
Aims for 2009: Keep the weight off, keep training and be healthy and happy!

Comments about Step into Life®:
Hi, my name is Gaynor, and I have been part of Step into Life Golden Grove since March 2006.
I met Matt Sparkman who is my group personal trainer doing a promotion in the shopping center, and after chatting to him decided to give it a go, and to my surprise found I was not only getting some exercise but having fun as well.
The sessions are so varied, the only thing we do the same of is the cool down, even the warm ups are different; it’s great because you don’t get bored. Matt is so enthusiastic, he gives lots of encouragement as do the other members, there is so much camoradarie.
I have achieved a lot in terms of fitness improvements, starting as a walker, which quickly turned into run/walk and now a runner which I quite enjoy, it’s something I thought I would never do. I started toning classes with Matt this year after attending the McCracken weekend away; this has consolidated my fitness program, and I now feel anything is achievable.
We receive regular fortnightly training reports, and have fitness tests on a regular basis; it’s good to see the improvements you have made in black and white. What else has Step into Life done for me:-
Weight loss and winning Golden Grove’s Step into Life Biggest Loser.
Increase confidence.
Feeling good about myself.
Health and fitness levels greatly improved.
New friends.
Running the City to Bay, and improving my time, this is amazing to me, and now running in other state events.
I am truly grateful to Matt and Step into Life a great big thank you.

I started training with Step into Life 9 weeks ago. I was overweight and unfit. I've now lost considerable weight, am of average fitness and feel great. The classes are challenging, groups are full of friendly and fun people, and being outdoors beats a sweaty, stuffy gym hands down" - Hamish Thompson

Comments about Step into Life®:
My name is Helen Farnhill I have lived in Perth for 18 years and I have 2 gorgeous boys Liam who is 14 and Cameron who is 12. Sadly 3 years ago my husband was killed in a work accident and for a while things were really tough on myself and my 2 boys!!
6 months ago my wonderful friend Ruth Nicolas finally got me to a SIL class which was kickboxing. After the 1st class I thought I must be mad but 6 months down the track its my favourite!!
I had joined Weightwatchers in January 09 and had lost about 7 kilos by then, now with the extra boost from classes I've lost 18kilos and feel fantastic! As I have quoted to Wayne I have now 'Stepped Back into Life' and it feels great. I hated exercise before and got bored quickly but with each class being different I don't now!!
Everyone at the classes are friendly and we all give each other encouragement with Wayne shouting his encouragement.
Wayne has helped, encouraged and motivated me to push myself and from not being able to run can now do 6km. Doing 4kms for the City to Surf was amazing I was nearly in tears and yes I'm going back next year to do the 12km (did 4Km this time).
I would just like to thank everyone for there support most of all Wayne for cracking the whip and pushing me when I didn't think I could and yes I will be there 3 times a week for more!!

Comments about Step into Life®:
Before I joined SIL I was tired and unmotivated. I would get home from work at 5pm and fall asleep on the lounge. I would fall asleep half way through movies. I also put on 10kg since my wedding in 2006. I enjoy fitness but I just couldn’t get motivated to do anything. I wasn’t interested in joining a gym because I'm indoors all day at work – so why would I want to train indoors??
I started working a second job which is where I met Brenda Bridge – a member of SIL at Golden Grove. She was always going on how good it was and how much she loved it. So I thought to myself if Brenda can do it – then I can do it!
I called up Craig from SIL Mawson Lakes and he listened to what I had to say and what I wanted to achieve, he got me motivated to get out there and give it a go. Hey, what have I got to lose!
I went out to my first session in October 2007 when it was raining and I loved it! I love the fact that its outdoors, I love that you do something different every session, I love that you can choose to do kick boxing, toning, cardio and fitball, I love that it caters for all different fitness levels, I love that its fun and I love the fact that its group personal training.
I go to 2 sessions a week, I have now lost 5kg and feel a lot more fitter, energetic and motivated. I'm staying up later and watching movies until the end and when I get home from work I'm not feeling tired. My husband has even noticed the difference!!! That’s rewarding in itself.
Craig my trainer has been nothing but supportive and pushing me to do my best. He has even inspired me to want to become a personal trainer.
Everyone I have recommended to SIL has gone out to their first session, loved it and joined up. Why wouldn’t you want to give it a go!
