I joined Step into Life when it first started in Stanthorpe and have loved every moment. Natalie is a great motivator and encourages you to work to your personal capabilities. The group sessions are fun, uplifting and being a group session, I really enjoy the social aspect, meeting up with friends, old and new.
I am seeing great results already and am loving those compliments! The best part for me is that it is outdoors in the fresh air, as I spend most of my days indoors working.
P.S...and there is a bad weather alternative, we train rain, hail, storms, frosts and shine!!

Comments about :

My name is Christine Wilson and twelve months ago I was a couch potato! Okay, I did the occasional bit of walking but nothing on a regular basis. With my daughter and son doing year 12, I thought it was time for me.

Getting fit and healthy and losing some weight along the way seemed like a good idea but going to the gym was not for me – been there, done that, not enjoyed it and not kept it up.

I saw an advert in the local paper for Step into Life, emailed Lisa who promptly phoned me and invited me to a free trial session – WOW – that was a life changing decision for me. I attended a session the following Monday, went home absolutely exhausted …and could hardly move a muscle the next day … and thought – this is for me and I haven’t looked back. I started attending twice a week, one cardio and one toning for the first three months to see how I would go (bit scared of commitment) and loved it and since then have been coming three times a week.

In April I also started the Weight Watcher’s at Home program and combined with Step into Life I am slowly losing weight (the girls tell me my bum is getting smaller – I guess I have to trust them on that one), as well as feeling so much fitter, healthier and happier.
I have found that the helpful, caring and enthusiastic support from Lisa to be so fantastic. The support and motivation from the other members of the group is another thing that keeps me coming back week after week. I know that even if I have had the worst day, my back is hurting or I generally feel down, that by the time I go home from my cardio or toning session I will have laughed, gossiped and had a good workout and feel much better about myself.

If anyone had told me twelve months ago that I would be exercising three times a week, getting up early on a Sunday to do fun runs (well walks) on a Sunday and enjoying it I would have said they were dreaming!

Thanks Lisa and thanks girls for all the fun and laughter.

Hi,

I saw in the latest newsletter that you would like feedback on our trainers/training sessions.
Can I just say that Jaron Blackie (or BIG BOSS BLACKIE whenever it's time for a boot camp tour of duty) is fantastic! Without his enthusiasm, humour and encouragement there is no way I would still be training 18 months on (including doubling up on training during winter to reach goals he helps me set - like the half marathon) - and loving it!!
The Step Into Life concept I think is perfect - it allows people of all different fitness categories to get together and have a solid workout (and fun!). I strongly believe the success of Step Into Life comes down to the trainers. We have had the opportunity to meet up with some of the other local SIL groups from the area at events, and all trainers seem really nice and enthusiastic, but all of us at Baulkham Hills believe we struck gold with Jaron. Being an extrovert, he makes every session so much fun, and still is able to push us to our limits and come out smiling on the other side!

I never imagined before training being as fit as I am now - I am really grateful to Step Into Life and Jaron for really changing my life (corny, but true!).

Thanks!

Claire

I was like most people and couldn't get motivated to get off the lounge and go to the gym or just exercise in general, untill one day my partner at the time suggested that we go up to the loacl oval at Glenmore park and give this group called Step into life a go. We toddled our fat little butts ( and I mean Fat, I was 107kg) up there and now just over three years later am still attending class up to 3 times a week.

Yes, when I started I was 107kg and in that time I have been with Deb & Sue I have lost a total of 22kg and feel a hell of a lot better now than when I started. The first time trial that I ran in just over 12 months ago I came in at 27 min & 45 sec, the last one that I ran I did in 17 min 45 sec so you can see how much improvement there was by just working hard at not only my exercise but in the way I ate. At the begining of this year I competed in my first enticer triathlon and am now in training for my next one which will be in Nov at the Regatta centre in Penrith.

The atmosphere at the classes is great and I have made so many good friends by attending step into life, if i was going to the gym I probably still wouldnt know anyone there. It is also good to see new people come to the class as they are not only supported and encouraged by Deb and Sue but by the other members in the class as well and that is another reason why I enjoy attending.

For all the people out there that are feeling a bit disheartened or have only just started attending Step into life believe me when I say this, just stick with it and the results will come and while you are doing the hard work you will have the best fun of you life.

Comments about :

I have been attending SiL classes for approximately 10 months now and I still have the same drive and enthusiasm as when I started.
After I stopped playing Hockey I began searching for something that was conducted outdoors that could help me retain a level of fitness at a professional level.
The thought of attending a Gym did not impress or motivate me.
That’s when I came across SiL at Golden Grove.
Like most fitness classes or gym workouts it is generally up to the individual to achieve their own personal goals.
Although at SiL the whole fitness thing is focused at providing the individual and class with a professional and rewarding experience in a totally stress free environment.
Every one is made to feel a part of the class and all respect and encourage each other to achieve their goals.
All classes contain a range of different material therefore never boring and by providing challenges to suit your own fitness level.
Even though the class size changes at each meet all individuals are treated personally and guided through all facets of the exercise.
If the odd injury does occur in which did happen to myself on one occasion I was treated and guided through the whole ordeal receiving professional advise as to what action to take.
I was also very impressed by the follow up phone call at home an hour later to see how I was.
No one misses out on that personal touch at SiL.
The staff are very committed, friendly and polite giving there clients a feeling of –
“I want to be there”
I currently attend two classes per week and I have noticed and achieved significant results. I feel a lot more confident in myself after losing 11 kgs in comparison with my body size therefore giving me a lot more get up and go.
In closing I would like to thank the crew at SIL Golden Grove and look forward to my next fitness test.
Keep up the good work
- WE DO IT OUTDOORS –
Cheers
