I never thought exercise could be enjoyable, well, Step Into Life has proved otherwise.

Since joining early this year, my fitness has improved significantly. I never dreamed I would ever run 1km without stopping, let alone enter a 4km fun run, and actually finish. The sessions are varied, fun, and most importantly cater for all fitness levels.

The beauty of Step into Life is that you can enjoy the company of others outside in the fresh air, have a laugh, get fit and feel fabulous all at the same time. Step into Life is unique and offers what other fitness programs can’t.

It really has been, and continues to be a personal challenge that I am gladly facing, and benefiting from in countless ways.

" Step Into Life has taken my fitness to a new level. Having previously had a gym membership and done my own running training my fitness was standard but Step Into Life's outdoor gym created a more dynamic level of fitness. It's easy to avoid gym classes when no one knows your name or cares if you're there but with Step Into Life and trainers like Tom, you feel a sense of not only a desire to turn and up and keep fit, but you also enjoy the benefits of a social training routine. Members and trainers alike provide motivating support through slighter tougher blitz sessions or even the more relaxing stretch and flex poses. The real effects of the outdoor training and personalised level of intensity is definitely seen in the real world - clothes fit better, holidays with more walking are easier to manage and a sense of belonging to a group whose focus is health and fitness not just how many kg's you can lift is all the motivation you sometimes need. It helps too that the trainers know your phone number and will call you out of bed in the winter though!! :) "

I'd seen the Step into Life group walking, running, playing with balls, kicking, boxing and other various activities in my local park and thought, 'if they can, I can'.

So not being one for gyms or netball or swimming, I signed up for 3 months and intend to keep on going ...

I love the variety Carolyn offers in the classes; no two sessions have ever been the same. She uses every possible feature and facility in the park from the hills to the walking tracks, seats...etc and it's all good fun and enjoyable. The hour class just zips by.

The people I've met have been friendly, encouraging and another reason why I keep on going ... and Carolyn is calm, patient, encouraging, positive and certainly not the bossy, shrieking and shouting trainer you might imagine. Three sessions a week are scheduled in my diary now and it's the reason why people are saying 'you look so good'. Now if I can just get the champagne and chocolate under control.

I joined Step Into Life Runaway Bay within the first month of it opening and have been a member ever since. The reasons why are so simple:

L = LOTS of fun
I = INDIVIDUAL attention whilst being part of a group to achieve what you want to achieve
F = FRIENSHIPS forged with other members, making exercising one of the most enjoyable times of the week
E = ENERGETIC trainers who keep you motivated and entertained (even at 6.15am in the morning!!)

I had been a member of various gyms over the years but after the initial enthusiasm wore off, the gym didn’t get to see me. Nor would they follow you up to ask where you were. Why would you go back? So not only had l wasted my money on a full year’s membership but l had not achieved my goals of being fitter. We all know we need encouragement and motivation to keep on going, especially in the early days, and that is not provided by the gyms l attended.

I received a SIL flyer in the mailbox and took the plunge immediately by making the call. I attended my first session and have never looked back. I attend 3-4 sessions per week covering cardio, toning, fitball, boxing, endurance and stretch & flex. I have also managed to complete various ‘fun runs’ of 10 km, 12 km and 14 km lengths, marvelling at the fact that l used to be someone who would watch such races and think every competitor was completely crazy for putting themselves through it. It’s a great, great feeling crossing the finish line each and every time.

I would never have achieved this if it wasn’t for the support, encouragement, and belief of my trainers, Jay and Ian. They make you believe that you can do it and encourage you along the way. They also make you lift your game when you are being slack at training – as they know you can do better, and you always can!

So l have been a member now for over 2 ½ years and have no intention of stopping. It is my longest membership ever! I have met so many new people and made new friendships with people of all ages. It is an absolute joy to go to training.

Its fun and its great for my health…… what more could l want!

A friend suggested I join her at Step into Life as she thought I would enjoy outdoor exercise. In March 2008 I attended my first training session -- no one had mentioned that I would be running! I’d always done some form of exercise but never running. For the first few weeks I was very nervous before cardio sessions but two years later I am enjoying three varied training sessions a week and look forward to them all.

The regular time trials and fitness tests give me a good indication of my fitness and thanks to Step into Life, I feel happy, healthy and fit.

Our early morning group has lots of laughs and with Marie’s smiling face, encouragement and enthusiasm, Step into Life is a veryspecial part of my life.
