Joining Step into Life under Randall’s guidance has been the best exercise choice I have ever made. My fitness, endurance, and flexibility are the best ever. At the age of 62, I have never been fitter, and this is due to Randall’s encouragement and patience. My weight has gradually decreased, due to exercise and good diet and I feel that I can now maintain this fitness level with the continued support of Step into Life and Randall’s Help.

Hello my fitness gurus, I stepped on the scales this morning and to my surprise I have lost 9 kilos since joining Step, I can't believe it, I haven't been this slim and light for the past two years.

I fit into clothes that I have stashed away in the "never again" box, I'm finding all these clothes again, like having a new wardrobe.

Thank you Vicky and Eddie for motivating me to "move my a**e", I couldn't have done it without you!

About 18 months ago I read an article that stated you put on an average of 5kg’s in the first year of marriage. Sarah and I had only been married for 6 months and I’d already put on 4kg’s! So I decided to beat the odds and get fit. As I’m sure you all know that’s much easier said than done. I was doing some training but keeping motivation day after day became difficult so I joined SIL to help lose weight and improve my fitness.

After 8 months of eating well & SiL training I turned 30 lost around 15kgs and was feeling the fittest I’ve ever been which was a great achievement for me. I’d always wanted to do the Kokoda Trail and I finally felt fit enough to do it so some mates and I decided to challenge our selves and hike the 94km track through the mountains of Papua New Guinea, made famous from World War II.

We thought we would add another element to the trip and also raise money for a project we’re apart of called Kingdom Assignment Sudan where they are building a health clinic and school in a small community in Africa called Malony. To raise more money we upped the ante and said if we raised $20,000 we would carry all our own gear and walk the hardest direction which is mostly up hill. Needless to say, thanks to my beautiful wife, we raised over $30,000 from sponsors and a dinner we held before we left.

Training for Kokoda was hard but I loved it. I was doing my normal 2 sessions a week with Matt, City 2 Bay training with SIL, weekend hikes and running up and down Mt Lofty with a backpack full of weights 3 times a week.

The first 3 days of the trek were tough – each day were on average 10 hour hikes up and down hills well above cloud level, 35 degrees, torrential rain and a 22kg pack full of my food, water, bedding and clothing. It was like doing 10 back to back City 2 Bay trainings but in hot, wet weather with 22kg’s on your back!

Luckily, the last 3 days got a bit easier hiking about 7 hours each day through jungles, villages (the locals are excellent), swamps, water falls, clouds and a couple of river crossings.

It was a real mental and physical challenge for me and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Matt and SiL training and the support of my wife Sarah. SiL training helped me improve my fitness immensely and has taught me how to maintain my fitness, push through pain barriers, set goals and then achieve them.

Kokoda was an amazing experience and at the end I felt a real sense of fulfilment and achievement. Now I can’t wait to do the next one- the Inca Trail in Peru.

Hi, my name is Lisa Peters, I am a stay at home mother of two children, Lilly 6 and Lucas 4 and have been training with Step into Life since that first 9.15am class on the 8th Feb.
I joined Step into Life after losing about 12kilos last year, and was looking for something more to help me get a few more kilos off and get into my healthy BMI. I was currently using my treadmill and a workout DVD, but have since realized I was a non lover of exercise...
I can say that I do enjoy going to Step into Life each week and "love" how I feel at the end of each session. Cath is firm, fair and fun, which is exactly what I needed.
I attend cardio and toning classes and am already noticing the benefits in my endurance fitness and changes to my muscle tone, particularly my arms.
I love the outdoor aspect of the sessions and I love having Cath on my shoulder saying "Come on Lisa, lets go...Faster...Lets go."
As a member of Step into Life I want to reach my healthy BMI and reach a level of fitness that will allow the odd naughty treat every now and then and not have to feel guilty about it...Like chocolate and peanut butter ice-cream from Baskin Robins... I am also looking forward to challenging myself to participate in the city to surf, which is something that I would have never considered 6 months ago...BRING IT ON...
